We made someone’s day!

You’ll recall we made spring rolls at the weekend from a video made by our Twitter friend @TheNoviceChef.

We made a quick video of our finished product to basically wave and say hi to send to her after finally hearing her voice on her spring roll instruction video – over the time we’ve been Twitter friends we’ve seen photos of her, her changing hair colour, her cats (including the sad time when one died), her husband, dog, friends and read about her triumphs in the kitchen and seen lots of wonderful photos of her food. We thought she might get a kick out of hearing our accents and seeing us ‘in the flesh’.

She was stoked and said the video made her week! She wrote a blog about it and her recipe for the day was something involving orange, just for me! Have a read of the post (and some of her others, she tells a great story!) and see the video we made for her: The Novice Chef – Orange Cranberry Cinnamon Rolls.

It’s so cool that you made her that video! I just followed your comment over on her post today. The relationships that form through blogging are so cool!
By the way, I just saw you recently celebrated 5 years of marriage–congratulations! Our 5 year anniversary was this past August. =)

Nice to ‘meet’ you! Yes these online friendships are great and amazing when they go somewhere – I have a special ‘Orange Friend’ as she’s known on my blog, a fellow orange lover from Chicago who came across my blog some years ago and we moved from swapping blog comments to emailing and exchanging Christmas cards and then earlier this year when we were living in New York for 4 months we flew up to Chicago and met her! It was wonderful and we got on so well. Will definitely be doing that again although New Zealand is so far away.

Hey hey! Thanks again for that video you guys made, so very cool. I thought I’d add one more thing that binds us together across the globe (this is an addition to the list you posted on Jess’ blog): we have an orange connection! I graduated from Syracuse University. Our mascot? The Orangemen! This simply means is we were destined to be blogging friends 🙂

Wow – I went to the website – that’s a lot of orange. And there’s an orange tree fund! I came across Syracuse the first time when we just got to New York in March and I think it was the March Madness (hope I got that right) and I’m sure I saw a lot of orange and worked out that’s where it was from. Our whole university/college sport thing is no way near as big or serious as it is in the States so I have trouble understanding! Plus the only thing I’m allowed to show any interest in when it comes to sport is the New York Yankees … no guessing where that pressure comes from … otherwise I would’ve said if you had any orange fan shirts lying around send one my way 🙂
